Concerned about carbon monoxide poisoning?
What is Carbon Monoxide?*
Carbon monoxide, or “CO,” is an odorless, colorless gas that can kill you.
Where is CO found?
CO is found in fumes produced any time you burn fuel in cars or trucks, small engines, stoves, lanterns, grills, fireplaces, gas ranges, or furnaces. CO can build up indoors and poison people and animals who breathe it.
What are the symptoms of CO poisoning?
The most common symptoms of CO poisoning are headache, dizziness, weakness, upset stomach, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion. CO symptoms are often described as “flu-like.” If you breathe in a lot of CO it can make you pass out or kill you. People who are sleeping or drunk can die from CO poisoning before they have symptoms.
Who is at risk from CO poisoning?
Everyone is at risk for CO poisoning. Infants, the elderly, people with chronic heart disease, anemia, or breathing problems are more likely to get sick from CO. Each year, more than 400 Americans die from unintentional CO poisoning not linked to fires, more than 20,000 visit the emergency room, and more than 4,000 are hospitalized.
We are here for you
Life Savers ER is a freestanding emergency clinic that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We offer emergency medical care to adults and children of all ages. With board-certified doctors and onsite laboratory & diagnostic services, we are fully equipped to take care of all minor and major medical emergencies.
When patients come to see us for emergency medical care we start by taking a full medical history and carrying out a thorough physical examination.
Following this, we may need to carry out some diagnostic tests and investigations. We provide onsite access to state of the art testing equipment that gives patients quick and reliable results.
After the doctor has confirmed the diagnosis, we will develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to your needs. In some cases we may also ask patients to stay for a few hours so that we can observe their progress over a period of time. This is to make sure that patients are not discharged prematurely.
If more advanced help is required, we can also arrange for patients to have direct transfer and admission to an area hospital.
Patients who come to our 24-hour emergency center enjoy a number of benefits including:
- On-Site Certified laboratory with immediate results.
- On-Site Radiology (X-ray, Ultrasound, CT Scan) with immediate results.
