Blood shortage in Texas and nationwide leaves independent banks in dire need.
For the first time ever, the American Red Cross has declared a blood shortage crisis in the United States. The organization is reporting that a significant drop in donations – including a 62% decrease from blood at drives at schools and colleges – has left hospitals with unmet needs.

We need your help.
Since the beginning of the Commit for Life program, our dedicated blood donors have helped save millions of lives, and we could not be more grateful.
There is no substitute for blood. It must be voluntarily donated by one person to be given to another. The need for different blood components – like red blood cells, platelets, plasma and source plasma—is constant. Giving on an ongoing basis helps ensure blood components are always available for the patients we serve.
About 1,000 donations are needed every day to help save lives in the Texas Gulf Coast region. That is why we encourage individuals to Commit for Life to help ensure a strong blood supply always is available.
