What is a free-standing emergency room?

Life Savers Emergency Room is a free-standing emergency room. A free-standing ER is a medical facility that is not attached to a hospital, but functions exactly like a hospital based ER. We are open to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for the treatment of any emergency. We are licensed by the Department of State Health Services to provide a high standard of quality. Although we are not located inside a hospital, we are equipped with the same services required of the hospital. We are also staffed with equally skilled doctors and nurses, the same ones who work in the hospital ER.

How are free standing ERs different from urgent care centers?

Life Savers Emergency Room is equipped and staffed the same as a hospital ER. Our board certified physicians are able to provide the same care they provide at major hospitals in a more relaxed and efficient environment. The ICU and ER trained nurses are able to provide individualized care to patients and their families. We have a No Wait policy, which can be compared to the average 4 hour wait times seen at most hospitals. We have no parking hassles, traffic hindrances and other barriers to you getting the care you need.

Hospital ERs are notoriously understaffed and overcrowded, leading to frustrated and unhappy people taking care of your loved ones. Well-meaning doctors and nurses are stretched thin in their attempt to provide compassionate care to a large number of people. At Life Savers Emergency Room, we are able to provide efficient, patient centered, safe and compassionate care 24/7. We are dedicated our patients’ satisfaction.

Does Life Savers Emergency Room accept my insurance?

We accept all private insurance plans including Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Humana, and others. If you do not have insurance, we will work with you on a cash fee schedule to help you cover your visit. You’ll never encounter hidden costs or surprise fees. We accept walk-in clinic.

What if I’m currently experiencing problems with my insurance company?

If your insurance company refuses payment for your emergency room visit, you can file a grievance with the Texas Department of Insurance. State law requires patients to be reimbursed for emergency room visits by their insurance carrier. What if my condition requires me to stay in the hospital overnight?

Because certain situations may require a hospital stay, Life Savers ER has made arrangements with local hospitals to ensure our patients have options for their accommodations. If you need assistance choosing the hospital that is best for you, we will help evaluate your situation and provide you with expert suggestions.

What happens if my condition requires further immediate care or surgery?

At Life Savers ER we do all we can to make this transition smooth. If your medical emergency indicates a need services that can only be provided in a hospital, we will handle of all the details. You can bypass the hospital ER visit and be admitted the minute you arrive, where you will be promptly shown to your room. We can even provide practitioner referrals to make a smooth transition.

What if I have questions about my bill and payments?

ER billing is a complicated and sometimes confusing process. At Life Savers ER, we strive to be fair and transparent with our billing. We want to help you understand the bills you receive from us. Life Savers ER is a licensed freestanding emergency center. We function just like a hospital-based emergency room, but our ER billing is very different. Instead of receiving multiple bills for a single emergency room visit, Life Savers ER submits one claim to your insurance company. Your insurance company will not be charged separately for radiology, pathology, or cardiology over-reads, as is the case with hospital-based ERs. Instead, these charges are included in your facility bill.
